Students at Artists for Humanity created a very special dress fabricated
in Vitamin Water labels and bottles to celebrate Boston Fashion Week.
Vitamin Water is a sponsor of The Tent at Boston Fashion Week. This
masterpiece is on display in a Mandarin Oriental Boston window which
can be found in the Newbury Arcade of The Shops at the Prudential

Meet Bethany Van Delft. Bethany has graced
many of Boston's fashion runways as a model extraordinaire over the
years. Everyone knows she's funny, but what some who know her through
the fashion industry might not know is that she is a comedienne on the
verge of greatness, or at least a sitcom deal. She'll be sharing her
model musings all through Boston Fashion Week.

A Funny Thing Happened
On The Way Down The Runway
One time in Milan I
went on a casting for the Giorgio Armani fall collection. I’d only
walked 6 steps before one of the stylists surmised I was not right for
the job. “You arr no ellll-e-gaaant,” she said in a dreamy Italian
accent, “You arr lika baby gee-raaaaffa,” which apparently was fine for
Emporio Armani collection. I went on to the final casting, where upon
seeing Nadja Auerman, Beverly Peele and other ‘real models’ sitting on
the floor, smoking cigarettes, exchanging books, I promptly decided I
did not belong there. Before I could arriveder-me, I was whisked away to
a dressing room, put into a body stocking, blazer, strappy 4 inch
sandals, and shoved onto a runway, located right in front of the man
Giorgio Armani. “Ello Behh-tany, pleasa walk for me.” I didn’t do that.
I did instead herky jerk down to the end, turn, shrug my blazer off,
which instantly jammed up on my clenched fists yanking the sleeves
inside out, slippity slide over to Giorgio, throw my arms in the air,
sleeve-covered fists and all and yell “Taaaa Daaaa!!” “Ohh, Behh-tany!”
he belly laughed, “see you next year!” My agency wasa no appy, but I
know one baby gee-raaaaffa who is still pleased as Punch.

“Having one central
location will really create an opportunity
to make this
a premiere event for the city,’’ Menino said.
“This is going to
be a truly professional event,
and our talent in
Boston deserves that.’’
